Tesla acquires manufacturing company to manufacture it’s manufacturing plants

It’s no secret that Tesla is trying to quickly scale up and it’s doing this quicker than Elon Musk can go insane and that is fast. In it’s latest move the company quietly acquired not one, but two, firms which specialise in automated manufacturing processes. One is the Minnesota based firm Perbix which Tesla quietly acquired in 2017 but is now finally deciding to use but the other is a new purchase, Illinois based Compass Automation.

According to Elecktrek “the automaker made an until-now-unreported deal to take over Compass Automation, a firm specializing in making equipment for automaker manufacturing.”

Elon Musk has long been a fan of automated manufacturing once being quoted as saying “We realized that the true problem, the true difficulty, and where the greatest potential is — is building the machine that makes the machine. In other words, it’s building the factory. I’m really thinking of the factory like a product.”

This new setup will allow Tesla to outsource the design of it’s new Gigafactories and assembly plants which means they can be more product focused, which is good for everyone.
